Refunds & Cancellation
Free trial
New workspaces may get a 14-day free trial of paid features, and we do not ask for a card to start one. If you do not subscribe, your workspace just moves to the free plan when the trial ends — there is nothing to cancel.
How billing works
Paid plans (Writer and Pro) are paid up front and renew on their own until you cancel. Stripe handles the payment. You can check your plan and status anytime in Settings → Billing.
Cancelling
Cancel anytime in Settings → Billing under Manage subscription, which opens the Stripe portal. When you cancel:
- You keep paid features until the end of the period you already paid for.
- After that, your workspace moves to the free plan. Your content stays, but features above the free limits (like a custom domain) turn off.
- We will not charge you again unless you resubscribe.
Refunds
Since cancelling stops the next renewal and you keep access until the paid period ends, we generally do not refund partial periods or time you have already had on a paid plan.
Still, we want onwrite to be worth it. If we charged you by mistake, a paid feature was broken for you, or the consumer law where you live gives you a refund right, email us and we will make it right. Approved refunds go back to your original payment method through Stripe.
Failed payments
If a renewal fails, we will retry for a little while. If it still cannot go through, your workspace moves to the free plan until billing is sorted out.
Price changes
If we change the price of a plan you are on, we will tell you ahead of time and the new price starts at your next renewal. You are free to cancel before then.
