Terms of Service

This is the agreement between you and onwrite. By using onwrite, you agree to it — so it is worth a read.

1. Agreeing to these terms

By creating an account or using onwrite (the “Service”), you agree to these terms, our Privacy Policy, and our Acceptable Use Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

If you are using onwrite for an organization, you are confirming you are allowed to accept these terms on its behalf.

2. What onwrite is

onwrite is a place to write and publish a blog. You draft posts in an editor, apply a theme, and publish to a yourname.onwrite.app address or your own domain. We will add and change features over time, and we may set fair limits to keep things running well for everyone.

3. Your account

You sign in with your email — there is no password — so keeping your email secure keeps your account secure.

  • You are responsible for what happens in your workspace and everything you publish from it.
  • You need to be old enough to enter a contract where you live, and at least 13.
  • Email us at support@onwrite.app right away if you think someone else got into your account.

4. Plans, billing, and trials

onwrite has a free plan and paid plans (currently Writer and Pro). Features and prices are on the pricing page.

  • Free trial. New workspaces may get a 14-day trial of paid features. When it ends, you stay on the free plan unless you subscribe.
  • Subscriptions. Paid plans are billed up front, renew automatically, and continue until you cancel. Stripe processes payments — we never store your full card number.
  • Taxes. Prices may not include taxes, which are yours to cover unless we say otherwise.
  • Cancelling and refunds. Cancel anytime; paid access runs to the end of the period you paid for. See our Refunds & Cancellation Policy.
  • Price changes. If a price change affects your subscription, we will tell you ahead of time and it starts at your next renewal.

5. Your content

You own everything you create and publish (your “Content”). To run the Service, you give us permission to host, store, back up, format, and display your Content — only to operate onwrite and publish your blog the way you ask. That permission ends when you delete the Content or close your account, except for copies already shared publicly, short-term backups, or records the law says we must keep.

You are responsible for your Content, and you confirm you have the right to publish it and that it does not break the law or others' rights.

6. Playing fair

Your use of onwrite has to follow our Acceptable Use Policy. In short: nothing illegal, infringing, deceptive, or abusive, and do not mess with the Service's security, limits, or how it is meant to work.

7. Custom domains

Paid plans let you connect your own domain. You need to own or control it, and you handle its registration and DNS. We set up certificates and routing, but we are not responsible for downtime caused by your DNS or registrar. We can suspend a domain used against these terms.

8. Services we build on

onwrite relies on other providers — for hosting, databases, payments, email, and image search. Using features that depend on them may also mean agreeing to their terms. We are not responsible for services we do not control.

9. Our side of the line

The Service itself — the software, themes, design, and the onwrite name — belongs to onwrite and its licensors. These terms do not give you rights to our branding beyond what you need to use the Service, and the themes are for use on your published blog only.

10. Suspending or closing accounts

You can stop using onwrite and close your account whenever you like. We can suspend or close access if you break these terms, if the law requires it, or to protect the Service or other people. When an account closes, its public site goes offline and its data may be permanently deleted after about 30 days — so export anything you want to keep first.

11. No guarantees

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind. We do not promise it will always be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure, or that your content can never be lost.

12. Limits on liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, onwrite is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for lost profits, revenue, data, or goodwill. Our total liability for any claim about the Service is capped at the greater of what you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or US$100.

13. Covering our costs

You agree to cover onwrite for claims, damages, and reasonable legal costs that come from your Content, your use of the Service, or your breaking these terms or others' rights.

14. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms now and then. For material changes we will update the “Last updated” date and, where it makes sense, let you know. Using onwrite after changes take effect means you accept them.

15. Which laws apply

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of São Paulo, Brazil, and any disputes go to the courts there — unless the law where you live lets you bring a claim closer to home.

16. Language

We may offer these terms in other languages for convenience. If there is ever a conflict between versions, the English version is the one that governs.
